Large format floor tiles in small rooms - Tile Advice

Hi,
I posted a few days ago in the buying forum which might not be the best place so would be good to have any more input.

I'm looking to have my small hallway and kitchen floor tiled, with the same tiles right through (total area just under 12 sq m). I've found a tile I like, and more importantly that the missus like, which is called Cotto Terme Beige (listed under "Gemini" in the tile shop) but they are 90cm x 45cm and don't seem to come in a smaller size.

I quite like the idea of having fewer grout lines but am worried it might not be practical to lay them. Anyone got any experience of laying such big tiles in a small area - do they require specialist cutting equipment etc?

Hello,you did have some replies the other day,but it can sometimes be hit and miss as to who is online at the time.We can tell you the rights and wrongs of how to do it,but its all down to your taste in tiles.Can you input that tile size on your floor plan ?,or make some templates and try different ways of what you want it to look like.

brick bond the hallway floor from left to right centring the tile in the kitchen door way gives good cuts it the kitchen front and back walls

Yes I was playing around with Photoshop cutting and pasting tiles onto the plan. Got the files at home though and I'm still in the office now.

Gary - I assume you mean a brick bond with the tiles running the length of the hallway, with a joint centered up the hall?

The rubi TX1200 would be my cutter of choice, I would also use a TX700 for the width cuts :lol::lol::lol:

no i mean brick bond the tiles across the hallway so you see the effect as you walk in through the front door,the entrance into the kitchen should be centred to the centre of a tile this give a good set out in the kitchen and the row of tiles brings you in to the kitchen like a pathway so to speak
