pricing a job up at the moment, a 5m2 kitchen floor on what look like old but solid floor boards, with a trap door in the middle which the customer still wants to use, but still wants it to look as though its incorporated in the tiled floor as best i can?
any advice ? !
would you build some kind of frame work for the trap door for the tiles to sit in?
i can see this one being a bit of a pain!

Can't say for sure without a picture of how it looks. But I can say this: Be careful if you want to build a frame, because you might end up with the trap door stuck if you don't leave enough margins.

Pictures would be handy, if the door is flush with the floor I can talk you through it, I have done quite a few...Gaz

i think i might try to avoid hinged door and try to sort a 'lift off' cover
any ideas on this one ?

I haven't a clue what he ended up going with.

I'd be interested in what happened. If suspect it's due to be tiled again too with changes in fashion etc

An old thread, but well worth answering so others can benefit. Below is a picture of a tiled access panel I did last year. I always treat my panels like this and have never had any issues as you treat the whole thing as a seperate area, allowing for movement and expansion etc. I silicone the gap with mine, but could easily be left unsealed for permanent access.

Hi, this is exactly what I require for a vinyl floor I'm doing, the frame size needs to be 76cm x 49.5cm and will be filled as shown with vinyl. Access is required for electrics and pumps & valves for central heating. Occasionally access required.
Could you please advise the place where it can be ordered from? T.I.A Barry John

What was the panel you used? Where can I buy it?
