Hardibacker fibre tape and https://www.tilersforums.com/forums/tile-adhesive/ will suffice imo.
Would you use a polymer https://www.tilersforums.com/forums/tile-adhesive/ or non polymer https://www.tilersforums.com/forums/tile-adhesive/ or would that make little difference
Just want it all prepped good for when I get the tiler in

Nearly all cement based https://www.tilersforums.com/forums/tile-adhesive/ are polymer modified.. 👍 , the https://www.tilersforums.com/forums/tile-adhesive/ just adheres the fibre tape to strengthen the joint..

S1 https://www.tilersforums.com/forums/tile-adhesive/ will be fine , make sure to silicone the tray to the walls as well when you bed the tray in.
