Hi guys - I’ve joined this forum because I’m planning on attempting to tile my new build bathroom floor myself...but I’m pretty clueless. It’s got a level chipboard, is this ok to tile over or do I need an underlay? And with the toilet and sink, do I have to remove these? The builders have said they can be ‘lifted up’ but if I’m honest they’re diabolical builders so I don’t trust what they say as far as I could throw them. I know I need https://www.tilersforums.com/forums/tile-adhesive/, tile cutter, angle grinder and grout but is there anything else I’d need? Any tips? Thanks 😊

Hi. Yes you need an underlay. Hardibacker is one i use. (6mm). There is vids on YouTube how to install. If you have the option to remove sanitary ware then it no makes an easier installation for the tile.
