Hi guys,

I'm new to tiling and looking for some advice. I'm practical and usually pretty good with DIY so looking to learn the correct way to do this.
I have just bought my first house (townhouse built in 2013) and want to tile the floors of the en suite, bathroom and downstairs wc. They are currently all vinyl flooring.

The en suite and bathroom subfloors are plyboard, I believe the downstairs is concrete. I have picked tiles for all three rooms and think I'll manage with the cutting, laying and grouting but I am looking for advice on how to prep the floors.

For the plyboard floors, is it a case of screwing hardiebacker direct to the plyboard and then just using adhesive and tiles on top? Do I need to tank the plyboard first or something? Do I need to check if the floor flexes much? How?
I'll make sure it's level of course.

With the addition of hardiebacker (6mm?), adhesive and tiles (8mm) will this cause me issues reinstalling the toilet/sink pedestal/shower tray?

Are there are differences in procedure for concrete subfloor? Any example materials for priming etc would be amazing.

There is a lot of conflicting advice and a ridiculous amount of different products out there.
Also, what's the best way of removing old adhesive from subfloor?

Cheers
