English to Canadian translation - For tile setters - Tile Advice

Is there a list online somewhere where I can look up some reference words.

Example:

Wet Room = Curbless Shower

_________ = 1/4"x1/4" trowel

_________ = ABS pipe

_________ = Vent line

_________ = Shampoo Niche

_________ = Mitered corners


and on and on

I have started reading a few posts and my head hurts. It's like going back to school.

Once I learn the lingo I won't have to think so much.

1/4 inch trowel is 6mm approx. mitered corners are the same but we spell it correctly as in mitre :smilewinkgrin:

Welcome to the forum. I'm the token yank here i started a thread somewhere which detailed a lot of the translations from the trade here in North American to the trade in the UK. I think this thread might be in the Arms-if so, maybe Dave can put it here and you'll some of the terminology laid out for you.

I've become good friends with three tile setters in Canada, via Harry Dunbar's forum (based in Ontario). I took a trip to Aurora and spent some time with them about 7 years ago and had a great time visiting Canada.
