Can anyone explain how you tile into a corner

Are the tiles bevelled or flat. If flat. Fit the first tile leaving a small gap to the opposing wall. I leave about 3 mm. The tile on the other wall is then fixed up to it. Leaving a gap of 2-3 mm that is than finished with silicone and not grout. Colour of silicone to match grout.
