Make sure you back skim the tiles as well depending how flat your existing floor is.

Not sure if I phrased the question quite right. What I would like to know is the rule of thumb for overall thickness of tile and adhesive when laying 600x600x10mm porc. tiles. ie how thick is the adhesive once the tile is bedded? And what size notched trowel would that assume?

you need 13 / 14mm max, with teeth 10mm
calculating that you live in Italy .....
also 15mm;)
