I'm soon to be laying some classic grey limestone random lengths in my garden . Just wondering on the best prep for it? It's currently just grass at the moment. Area to be tiled is approx 30sqm. I've never done any external tiling before so I was thinking of laying a concrete slab then tiling when the screed is completely dry? What's the best way about it? Cheers ollie

I'd be putting a ditra down with the stone, there's more chance of an external concrete slab cracking...

Crack suppression
Waterproofing
Vapour barrier
Load baring qualities

Quite a few benefits to ditra in this scenario

You don't need a concrete base if you dig it out and use type one .wack it down with a wacker plate and you can then fit the stone on a mortar bed
