wetroom
A shower is a place in which a person bathes under a spray of typically warm or hot water. Indoors, there is a drain in the floor. Most showers have temperature, spray pressure and adjustable showerhead nozzle. The simplest showers have a swivelling nozzle aiming down on the user, while more complex showers have a showerhead connected to a hose that has a mounting bracket. This allows the showerer to hold the showerhead by hand to spray the water at different parts of their body. A shower can be installed in a small shower stall or bathtub with a plastic shower curtain or door. Showering is common in Western culture due to the efficiency of using it compared with a bathtub. Its use in hygiene is, therefore, common practice.
I am sure someone will know a good practice solution. We started a wetroom last year and then fracture my wrist badly so it's been left in a state of limbo. We have removed the temporary fixed loo, bath and sink to continue and have children so need to sort a way forward quickly. Builder had put...
I bought Faulty Towers last June. I have done a fix on my shower floor tiles. It has lasted for a couple of months but is now failing again.
The problem is mosaic tiles coming off. I tried siliconing them to the adhesive base then a bit of grout in the gaps. So, that doesn’t work.
Is there a...
Hi
I'm looking for some opinions on silicone colours for my new bathroom, I'm getting close to finishing it and unsure of what colour silicone to use. I have limestone (ultra tile) grout and marble affect porcelain. Should I use 1) limestone silicone on the internal vertical corners, and white...
I am doing a shower tile installation on mold-resistant drywall and I am waterproofing with redguard. The drywall comes down and sits on the shower edge/lip, and the tile will go over the lip and down to the base of the shower. All looks great except one of the studs was a little bowed and one...
I need to tile a new corner shower stall. I put Hardi waterproof backer board on the wall and used thinset to seal all my seams and screws, also used thinset for my transition seam between the drywall and backer board. I used a setting joint compound (not a pre mix drywall compound) to feather...

I am building a niche in a 26x15 opening on a 60x32 shower I will be tiling. I am using GoBoard as backer. Does anyone have a link on fabricating a niche out of GoBoard or Schluter board?
Also, question on tile costs: Since I visited various tile shops including the Tile Shop, Virginia Tile...
Hello all,
I am renovating an old shower and was hoping to reuse the concrete shower pan. It is poured on a slab basement and was poured around shower drain and plumbing pipe. Once I removed the old tile and mortar I noticed a crack in the pan roughly along where the plumbing runs. Should I be...
I'm tiling my shower. I've got a pony wall and would like a grout line to line up with the top of that pony wall. Can I start a row of tile at the top of my pony wall and work my way down to the floor?
Hi All, we have recently had a new shower enclosure fitted and wanted to check whether the inside vertical profiles should be silicone sealed as a "belt and braces" approach to prevent leaks? The instructions only state to do the outside and the bottom of the door only:
The fitter has stated...
Hi everyone, new member here looking for some advice.
I’m looking for a shower former for a loft conversion wetroom. It has to sit on joists, has a width restriction of 800mm, and needs an off-centre drain. There is a girder running beneath that would obstruct a centre drain.
I was looking at...

Hi all, brand new here so be gentle!!
We've just bought a new place that needs a full refurb - needs heating installing and rewire etc. In the meantime i'm planning the bathroom to distract myself from the horrors that lay ahead. The plan is to have a free standing shower bath (flat to the...
Hi,
I've installed a flat pebble shower floor over a Schluter foam pan. It looks nice. I need help with grout selection since these flat rocks don't drain as well as some flat tiles. It seems that Mapei Ultra Pro FA grout can handle joints up to 3/4". There are many grouts that can't and I...
Ok so ive messed up a bit when tiling my shower room - after spending ages measuring tiles and where to start to avoid small cuts and getting the boarder in the right place, i placed a baton and tiled off that ive now tiled down to my shower tray and i am out by about 5mm - so rather than...
I've a shower to repair where on one wall the lower half of the existing tiles are loose and the plasterboard behind deteriorated. When I remove the tiles and damaged board, what is the best approach? Cement backer board I guess, but how to waterproof effectively where 2 sides of the existing...
Hi,
I have just tiled my bathroom wall and done the last row around the shower tray. I wasn’t sure how much gap to leave but it ranges between 4mm and 5mm.
I have tanked the walls and used the Mapei tape also around the shower tray.
Are those size gaps ok? Looks like sealant would fill them...
I’ve tanked a the bathroom walls with Mapei showerproofing kit and I’ve installed a shower tray. The walls are all tiled now and I am going to do the last row in on top of the shower tray.
My question is because Mapei recommend putting the tape along the shower tray and wall and tanking over...
Hello All,
My name is Daniel and I'm brand new to this forum. I'm looking for advice and suggestions on how to properly construct a steam shower pan. What techniques, and more importantly, what materials do folks use for these? Is PVC/Chloraloy membrane a no-no? Which membrane materials can...
