angle grinder
An angle grinder, also known as a side grinder or disc grinder, is a handheld power tool used for grinding (abrasive cutting) and polishing. Although developed originally as tools for rigid abrasive discs, the availability of an interchangeable power source has encouraged their use with a wide variety of cutters and attachments.Angle grinders can be powered by an electric motor or compressed air. The motor drives a geared head at a right-angle on which is mounted an abrasive disc or a thinner cut-off disc, either of which can be replaced when worn. Angle grinders typically have an adjustable guard and a side-handle for two-handed operation. Certain angle grinders, depending on their speed range, can be used as sanders, employing a sanding disc with a backing pad or disc. The backing system is typically made of hard plastic, phenolic resin, or medium-hard rubber depending on the amount of flexibility desired.
Angle grinders are standard equipment in metal fabrication shops and on construction sites. They are also common in machine shops, along with die grinders and bench grinders.

I was watching videos on cutting tiles with angle grinder and came a cross one where the tile was cut on what looked like a large board.
Anyone know what material it would be looking at getting something to cut on top of.
Can anyone give any hints or tips on using an angle grinder for cutting tiles, bought a variable Bosch and premtool blade.
Have read about rotating the grinder and having the blade on the right as pull cutting can be more accurate on longer cuts. Also the dust etc is thrown away from you...
Just wondering what I should expect to pay for a good blade to cut porcelain tiles? It'll be a 4.5" blade to fit my grinder.
The guy in one of the local tile shops showed me a £30 blade he "sells to all the professional tilers." I've seen a diamond edged blade in toolstation for £3. But I...

Hi everyone!
Any advice to help with the cuts please? How to best avoid not break or chip the tile, how to keep a straight line...
Do you cut it at the back of the tile or the front?
Any advice would be much appreciated:)
Maybe I'm a bit late to the party but to those of you that haven't tried these yet you should do as I've drilled 10 mm porcelain in under 20 seconds with a 25 mm hole . The make I'm using is Mexco although I understand ATS products are much liked . Time easily outweighs cost .

Hi everyone,
My dad's just given me his old cheap angle grinder. It's like this: Broken Link Removed
I'd like to try it out on cutting a few sockets, and maybe also a few curves around a shower tray. It doesn't have to be perfect but I'd like to give it a go.
