Brilliant. Must have been a fair amount of work this so thanks a lot Dan! Is this strictly for tiling only? I tend to advertise for bathroom jobs rather than tiling only jobs

When to remove spacers (metro tiles)

Thanks! Much obliged. If using a standard set with ceramic metros would it be safe to leave overnight and remove in the morning or still best to take out sooner than later

When to remove spacers (metro tiles)

If poking spacers in between metros (leaving them sticking out the front) is it better to remove them before the adhesive has set rather than trying to pull them out the next day after compression? If so is there a good way to tell when is safe to do without the tiles moving?

Mitre External Corners in Porcelain Tiles

Thanks for input everyone. Think I am going to use my white grout on this occasion. Seems adequate for this particular situation I think and I also need to make a start sooner than I could get anything delivered. Might pursue resins for future projects though. Some of the techniques look...

Mitre External Corners in Porcelain Tiles

Thanks Tony! Love watching any master of their craft. I have a little experience from free-handing corners with plaster and even lime renders the old-fashioned way. That is a skill let me tell you, I'm certainly not the best at it but looking at the associated techniques maybe I'm worrying all...

Mitre External Corners in Porcelain Tiles

Thanks Julian! Bit like manually formed render/plaster corners then which I have experience with. All about timing. If there's a fair amount to do, do you think it could be more time-efficient to slightly overfill the joins, let set overnight and then rub back with diamond pads the next day? Or...

Mitre External Corners in Porcelain Tiles

Wow. Have got the mitringitself down but filling a mitred corner really is a dark art, can't get the full answer anywhere. Have asked myself before and seen many other posts where the question is half-answered. I have many great time-served plastering (and other trade) secrets I could exchange...

Mitre External Corners in Porcelain Tiles

Thanks for the replies. As mentioned in my original post, I'm confident making cuts. Just looking for advice on what to fill the corners with

Mitre External Corners in Porcelain Tiles

Looking to do a few mitred external corners this week (600x300x9 porcelain). Practiced the cuts a few times and very happy with that. Never filled the corners though. Seen some resin recommendations but most of them are looking difficult to source. The only viable option I can see is Akemi...

Surely you have nothing better to get on with? 🤪

    Setting out advice - 600 x 300 x 9mm porcelain tile brick bond fashion?

@3_fall you're right, that does make for an optical illusion. Your photo looks like it was taken inside a doll house! Also I hear you're the man to talk to about mitred corners. I have been practicing them at home with off cuts and feel confident making the cuts now. I heard one is meant to...

    Setting out advice - 600 x 300 x 9mm porcelain tile brick bond fashion?

Thanks for the replies guys. I will square it up somewhat before I put backerboards in but can't do it completely because the shower tray is down already and not being replaced. Customer knows exactly what they are asking for and exactly what they will (and won't!) be getting. It's an unused...

    Setting out advice - 600 x 300 x 9mm porcelain tile brick bond fashion?

Any help anyone? Customer wants to get ordering so if I need to tell him to rethink or if anyone has experience with this look would be good. Not really seen it before. @3_fall @jcrtiling @Andy Allen @Plan Tec Tiling or even @antonio ?

    Setting out advice - 600 x 300 x 9mm porcelain tile brick bond fashion?

Helpful, thanks! It's not that bad. Customer fully aware of the geometry issues. It's just a small bathroom attached to a garage and part of a much larger project (whole house). It needs doing either way as tiles have come off now

    Setting out advice - 600 x 300 x 9mm porcelain tile brick bond fashion?

Hi, Running a small bathroom job for a customer. Customer really wants to use a particular 600x300x9 porcelain tile he has picked out in a brick bond pattern. The back wall of the shower cubicle is awkwardly a little over 600 wide. It's also on the wonk in a proper pyramid shape, but all...

What's the best tip/trick/advice you were ever given?

So get up late, start late, take multiple breaks and waste hours cooking a three course meal for lunch. That's how I normally treat jobs at home!

What's the best tip/trick/advice you were ever given?

Someone asked this question over on the plasterers forum and it ended up being a great thread. I think we all learned a thing or two, even the veterans. So let's hear it....

Cutting down a big tile into smaller

What makes you say that? Little discoloration but seems otherwise sound. Was planning to fit the replacement tiles and grout in. Would rake out any surrounding grout but only as far as necessary.
