Hi everyone
This is my first post
Im just after some advice
After 22 yrs tiling i have myself my first non paying customer
It all feels pre planned to me the whole situation
Basically i quoted a job and gave my price through WhatsApp
All correspondence accepting my quote, dates of start date etc.. I know I should of given a contract but I’ve never needed to, but i have everything in messages which may or may not be enough but it surely shows acceptance of some sort.
So we start the work complete the bathroom to very high standard as we always do. Customer agrees great job.
We then start the kitchen floor, we tile it to a high standard but there is about 1m2 of tiles that the customer says are dipping so we go to look at the issue
We agree and say we can fix that issue no problem.
We then get a message saying the full floor needs taking up and its at our expense
We disagree saying its only 10% of the floor and her comments are insulting
Basically its gone from accepting the bathroom is perfect to we have done shoddy workmanship and she’s not paying us a penny for any of the work.

We posted invoices at the property, she then sends nasty massage saying post the key or she will change the locks and charge us for it.
Can customers just kick up a false claim and get away with it?
Bare in mind we offered to fix the work before her saying the full floor needs taking up.

I’ve filed the issue at the small claims court but after reading up on the success rate I doubt I’ll get any money back and if i do it’ll be pence per week

I’ll attach videos of our work

Thanks

Hello mate. Stick to your guns.
Bathroom looks ok, just trying to get away
With it. Small claims is your best bet.
Make sure you have as much info/paperwork
As poss. Resend the invoice every week saying 1st reminder 2nd reminder and so on. If they know your not giving up they might just pay.
