Nearly 14 years we've been online, and we haven't ever had an area of the website to help people to choose their tiles. We have always been here for the tiler, but when it comes to the homeowner, we seem to have missed the boat a bit. We have a thousands discussion threads related to bathroom tiling and wetroom tiling going wrong. And if we had been here for those homeowners before they'd actually chosen their tiles, we could have perhaps avoided their disasters. Whether DIY doing their own tiling work, or homeowners choosing tiles to be installed by professional tilers; this bit of the forum is for them.
When it comes to buying tiles, and you end up with two or three choices, maybe a border tile, maybe a feature tiled wall, maybe mosaics in vertical lines or as a horizontal border, or maybe the whole shower area is a mosaic or feature shower area? - How do you actually choose the tiles? Some are Full Bodied (Fully Vitrified) Porcelain, Some are Porcelain Glazed. Some are Ceramic, matte ceramics and gloss. Floor tiles and wall tiles in each of all of the above! - HOW does one choose with such varying quality of tile - and often they look the same in the tile shop. And suppliers always only push the ones they have access to.

There are some pretty cool tiles still in one piece from a while back. The image is of a tile freize fragment from the 13th to 14th century, Kashan, Iran. If we look after our tiled areas and appreciate the effort and work that has gone into making them, so we can shower all over them without issues, we might one day have our works in a museum also. (Potteries Museum and Art Gallery, at time of writing of course)
